LabEx Cortex

logo cortex

CORTEX is a rare and combined multidisciplinary effort to understand the brain and human cognition, based on systems level studies of networks and interactions of multiple scales, from neurons to individuals. Understanding cognition and its biological roots, but also its pathologies requires a comprehension of its genesis, its structure, and its physiology. CORTEX pushes this integrative approach, which allows tapping into the resources of our brain for rehabilitation; the design of new and therapeutic procedures. One further perspective will be to pave the way, via reverse engineering of the brain, to the emerging field of bio-inspired technologies.

The ECOFECT goals are to i) develop an innovative research in the field of eco-evolutionary dynamics of infectious diseases by considering the host-parasite relationship as a complex network of interactions from the molecular and cellular levels to the level of individuals, populations, host communities or infectious agents ; ii) draw a bridge between scientific research and medical practices to accelerate the process of transfer from academic knowledge to operational medical solutions; and iii) promote interdisciplinarity to bring out innovative ideas for research on infectious diseases.

LabEx Primes

PRIMES’s (Physics, Radiobiology, Medical Imaging, and Simulation) primary objective is to develop new concepts and methods for the exploration, the diagnosis and the therapy of cancer and ageing-related pathologies. PRIMES brings together the complementary skills of 16 recognized academic and medical partners with a long-standing experience to develop state-of-the-art methods, covering all necessary fields, from basic physics, instrumentation, radiobiology, data acquisition and processing, to image reconstruction, simulations and modeling supported by supercomputing.

Agence Nationale de la Recherche
